26 Aug to 2 Sep

Finally arrived at our resort around 6. The unit is huge with a walk in wardrobe (needed for all the t-shirts) and very nicely set up with huge fridge. Went to a Mexican restaurant for dinner (only foreigners there) and then to the shops to stock up and back home to watch the fight but was not on public TV.

Stayed home all day. And relaxed. Went to a timeshare presentation as they offered us a $100 to do so! The salesman knew we weren't buying so only took an hour. Went for a swim in the adults only pool, bath temperature water! Went back to our unit to cool off in aircon (temp reached 48 today) then went to poolside bar for happy hour. Had a Maitai and killer nachos. Later went to casino night which was highly entertaining. Played Blackjack but our dealer simply could not count up to 21 so often went bust as he drew another card even though his already added up to 18 or 19!!!

Headed back home in time for Happy Hour cocktails (Maitais again) and killer nachos. Watched the US Tennis Open on TV.

Decided to stay at home today. Had to go out when the lady came to clean our apartment so drove to the shops. Found a hairdresser and had a hair cut at long last! Did our shopping then came home for a swim, watch tennis and Maitais.

The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway in Palm Springs, California, is the largest rotating aerial tramway in the world. It was opened in September 1963 as a way of getting from the floor of the Coachella Valley to relatively near the top of San Jacinto Peak and was constructed in rugged Chino Canyon. Before its construction, the only way to the top of the mountain was to hike a number of hours from Idyllwild.
The twelve-and-a-half minute ride begins at the Valley Station at 2,643 ft (806 m) and passes up North America's sheerest mountain face through five life zones (biomes) on its way to the Mountain Station at 8,516 ft (2,596 m) above sea level.[1]Travelers start in the Sonoran Desert and arrive at an alpine forest. The floor of the 18-foot-diameter (5.5 m) aerial tram-cars rotates constantly, making two complete revolutions throughout the duration of the journey so that the passengers can see in all directions without moving. With a maximum capacity of 80 passengers it is the largest of the three rotating aerial trams in the world. The other "Rotair" aerial trams are located in Cape Town, South Africa and Titlis, Switzerland.
Passengers disembark at the Mountain Station in the alpine wilderness of Long Valley and Mount San Jacinto State Park. The air can be as much as 40 °F (22 °C) cooler at the top than in the desert.

The ride up in the tram was amazing and views were even more spectacular when we reached the top. They had some scenic viewpoints up there plus we watched 2 excellent short films on the history of the San Jacinto National Park plus the making of the tramway.
Decided to go for a walk down the track to the Nature Trail but when we got to the start of the trail there was a sign saying rattle snakes had been seen on the path. Needless to say I didn't want to do the walk any more! We sat at a picnic table for a while then heard thunder in the distance so decided to head back up to the tram in case it rained!
Went back down on the tram and drove through Palm Springs on the way home.
Watched tennis with our Maitais and Nachos!
